Inspired to get this book after watching tv series "The Unit".

i've been watching "Tour of Duty" tv series now and next book after this hopefully be "SOG" (Studies and Observation Group) based on vietnam war.

got this from IT Hypermarket Lowyat for RM120 after RM135 discounted. bought it on 14th Sept 2005.

bought 2 sets for GF also. so far it works within its specification but it seems not to work on my Ferrari 4000 x64 edition due to drivers incompatible. have emailed VGear support on this but till now no response. sighs.

oh well, on da desktop seems to work well on MSN and yahoo. plus CCTV function which is coool. i havent tried webcamming yet. Yahoo video conferencing kinda blur but on MSN its clearer.

there is also like a tuner type to sharpen the images. tested this product at home and office.

Gadget Corner: USB Corded mouse by logitech. after MS optical mouse blue served me well throughout the years of trials, it finally gave in with total disability to both left n right mouse buttons.

so for a change, i got myself these :

i got it on the 9th Sept 05 from MV IT Market next to FCC for RM210 with no credit card surcharge. originally it was bout RM225 which the person working there gave me discounts.

surprisingly when first when to FCC, they quoted me for RM269 and after discount RM259, but still charge me another 2% for CC surcharge.

Acer Extended Warranty

today went to acer IT Retail Sdn Bhd at lowyat plaza to swap(the shop keeps the 256MB two pieces) DDR RAMs from 512MB(it was originally as 256MB X 2) to 1GB(Kingston) have asked whether it would void the warranty as there is no replacement sticker after they replaced the ram memory compartment with the new ram. Ivan says just refer to the receipt as it governs the warranty.

right after, purchased the rm498 super4 extended warranty uplift to 3years. Details

went to IT Hypermarket to get me the USB light for notebook and a cross cable. (5meter)

Gadgets!!! got this WAP54G yesterday from MV FCC for RM299. Detail chosen due to Cisco.

Connected this AP(access point) to the SMC ADSL2 Barricade router. setup was rather simple after overcoming the first hurdle. at first it wasnt connecting well until i was given the adviced that this AP router and ADSL router is not having the same IP groups. so had to realign the AP router to that of the ADSL router IP range. after that the network heals. for simplicity sake am using WEP security 64bit. will try the other security method WPA soon.

am connecting my ferrari 4000 to this wireless access point.. simply awesome!!

oh ya, noticed that transfering of files kinda slow. guess its wireless at 54Mbps. hope to have double or triple that. but then again, if that happens all hardware requirements will need to be upgraded.

bought myself this Notebook with additional 1GB RAM DDR333(kingston) at RM6150. bought at lowyat plaza IT Retail SDN BHD. tempting to extend warranty for 3yrs which gonna cost me rm498. most probably will do so after much consideration from friends and colleagues.

did my first recovery CD. discovery 101:
- recovery uses symantec Ghost with FAT32 reformat/reinstall.
- it doesnt contain E-Trust antivirus as it was initially pre-loaded. from email response from Acer support company Highpoint, it was mentioned that i have to bring the notebook to the centre to install such antivirus. (paid the total amount for them to tell me to come to centre. that's nuts!!)

My New Room Color

6233P Blue Tune

Painted the above color last saturday n sunday. saturday used a primer white as base using Ace "Royal Accent" Latex Tintable Primer 100% Acrylic for accent colors. cost us rm79.90. had to get 2tins as each is 3.7Liter.

Sunday used the blue tune pastel. at first whenever painting we notice the paint gets lighter n lighter. eventually we realized that when it dries up, the color goes back to the color we wanted, the blue tune. phewwww..

This color we got it from Ace Hardware via color mixing machine which can produce hundreds of any colors. bought it for rm99 at 5Liter. it seems the lighter the color the cheaper but the darker more expensive as it needs more darker color. its a Nippon 3-in-1.

we had to go to and from ace hardware to get supplies from the 2 days for bout 5-6times.

the e-game version is simply excellent!! you get to learn alot about the fundamentals of financing and investment plus the 202 version is based on a real market situation. its very very very much better than monopoly.

the game is basic knowledge based on actual stock market gaming whereby a person will learn how to play options.

1. low level - for those who do not have any idea what financial is all about and their cashflow usually doesnt tally. plus these group of ppl do not have money, or have money but donno what to do with it. must conquer financial planning.

Finished reading Milan Doshi book. just got myself another book as im focusing on local investors. book called "Millionaires are from different planet" by Azizi Ali ref: http://www.millionairesplanet.com/pro.html

why i focus on local investors first is simply because the audience they are targetting and the current market and trend in the country im living in. basically i have no idea how financial works other than "Aiya! so much arr, oh well.. " until i read these books. this is where the layman explains another layman.

i prefer this method than to comparing hashed inputs against hashed database. this way dictionary attacks will be harder as person wont know what variables or parameter values used for hashing.

Buying a Property

Bought myself a property freehold at Tmn Melawati. ALAS! my very own home but havent got the key yet as waiting for title transfer. after that i can drill holes for air con,etc.

these are procedures to get the property based on my case scenarios.

1. check out the house with agent/owner for any defects especially termites, cracks, electrical cables dangling, etc
2. get S&P (sales and purchase) agreement and documentation signed between you and owner. the killer price is the housing calculation + stamp duty.
3. get loan from bank. another cost to reconsider is the stamp duty+fees. for my case, bank pays. though in near future im sure they will recover back the money. maybe thru their high interest rate. (exclude BLR, view latest BLR) also look out for low interest rate, repayment flexibility, penalties.
a. upon approval, bank will send letter of offer
b. bank will request you to sign load agreement which will be stamped

4. buy MRTA.
5. wait for a month or two for land title transfer to your name and finally owner gives out key.

Note: always read thoroughly over and over again the S&P signed and never ever assume lawyer does work on time. always follow up/bug.

There are basically two ways to do this:

1. Application to continually checks with temporal login table
2. Application that stores in session

Both achieved the same result but there is a performance and ease of navigation difference.

- performances overhead if app continues to check with database (for no.1) but it gives confidence of security because comparison done with hashing usage. the stress will be on the database hosting side.

- server ram piled up (for no.2) but in terms of navigation, its fast. the stress will be on the web hosting side which host IIS.

solution: hybrid!!! i wonder if there is such in dot.net
